In case of bad weather: if KV schools have a 2-hour delay, Celebrate Recovery will still be in session. However if school is let out, or cancelled entirely, Celebrate Recovery will be cancelled as well. What is this all about? The purpose of Celebrate Recovery is to encourage fellowship and to celebrate God's healing power in our lives as we work our way along the road of recovery by following the 8 Principles of Recovery found in the Beatitudes, Matthew 5:3-10. The benefit of working the 8 Recovery Principles is FREEDOM. Freedom from hurts, habits and hang-ups that mess up our lives and rob us of the life God wants us to live. This produces spiritual growth and character and enables us to share that freedom we've found in Christ with others. By applying the principles of conviction, conversion, surrender, confession, restitution, prayer, quiet time, witnessing, service and fellowship, you will restore and develop a stronger relationship with God and others. This is achieved through praise, worship, informative lessons, personal testamonies, fellowship and small groups. What do you mean by a hurt, habit or hang-up? A hurt, habit or hang-up is very simply anything that hinders your walk with God. HURT: The emotional reaction to another person's behavior toward you or any disturbing situation which may have indirectly affected you. Abuse, abandonment, divorce and relational breakdown of any sort are just a few examples of hurt. HABIT: An addiction to someone (e.g. codependency) or something (e.g. addiction). Controlling, manipulating or compulsive behaviors as well as abuse of alcohol, drugs, sex, gambling, food, shopping or smoking are all examples of a habit. HANG-UP: Any negative or destructive mental attitudes that you use to cope with people and/or circumstances. Anger, depression, isolation, fear, gossip, being judgmental or critical and an unwillingness to forgive are all examples of a hang-up. All of us have hurt others or been hurt by others. CR ministers to both men and women with whatever hurt, habit or hang-up they struggle with. CR will provide you with gender specific groups where small group guidelines are strictly enforced to provide safety and confidentiality. GOD DOES NOT WASTE A HURT! Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have recieved from God (2 Corinthians 1:3-6).
